Theatre Woes

I thought a musical was hard work, but being an old lady when I a) have never been a character this "old", and b) don't do voices all that well, is a REAL challenge.

I'm torn between smoker lady voice and pleasant old deaf lady because I started with smoker lady and I'm just not sure it's right.

I enjoy old smoker lady voice. Not that I have heard it but I'm sure it's charming.

I’m told its all in the knees and hips. If you walk like it hurts it sells other aspects of the performance. At least that’s what my director used to say in college.

For now, we're just reading through the script and getting the beats right b/c this is a very humor-heavy play but a lot of the lines rely on timing and what not.

HOWEVER, thanks for the tip because I was planning to give her a hunch haha. If I stick with the smoker lady voice, if I go for the nice one, I'm not sure... \D:/
